THE SANCTUARY

Our Sweet Dionne raises money for rescue ex-racing greyhounds at Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare located in Hersham. This sanctuary is devoted to caring for ex-racing greyhounds and finding them new homes. If for whatever reason a hound is struggling to be re-homed, they will always have a place at the sanctuary. They rely entirely on donations from their fantastic supporters and members of the public. £1 per bag will be donated to support their incredible charity.

We adopted our very own sweet Dionne from Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare and often take her back to visit kennel manager, Carol, who is always thrilled to see Dionne (who she knew as Gail!). Carol is the heart of the kennels, surrounded by long term supporters who all keep in touch over Facebook. Anything the hounds need everyone is happy to chip in and help, it truly is so heart warming!

THE COFFEE

Origin: Burundi
Farm: Izuba Washing Station
Cultivar: Red Bourbon
Processing: Natural

This season, Sweet Dionne is made up from a wonderful coffee from the rolling Mugoyi hills in the Kayanza province of Burundi - and we are really excited to share this with you.

Izuba meaning “sun” in Kirundi, is located in Runinya, Kabarore Commune, of Kayanza Province. The Izuba washing station is set close to a nearby river, providing a vital and regular freshwater source for coffee processing.

Each volume of cherry sold to Izuba is recorded by producer and hillside, showing the minute variances in profile from locations surrounding the washing station.

Izuba currently produces washed coffees and is actively developing both honey and natural processed lots, which will become larger in volume this year. Washed coffees are fermented for around 12 hours and dried for an average of 20 days. Naturals take around 30 days of drying time.
